Foot and Ankle
Referral Information

The Edmonton Bone and Joint Centre does not accept urgent referrals. If your patient requires urgent attention, please call the Orthopaedic Consult Line at 1-800-282-9911. In addition to urgent patients, we do not accept referrals for:

  • Patients under the age of 18: these referrals should be sent to the Central Intake Clinic. Their fax number is (780) 407-6284.
  • WCB patients
  • Ingrown toenail patients: these referrals should be sent to a podiatrist.
  • Out-of-province patients: we do not accept out-of-province patients due to the high volume of referrals from the Edmonton area.
  • For a full list of foot and ankle conditions that require treatment, but should be directed to a different specialist, please view our ‘Where Should I Refer my Foot and Ankle Patient?’ page.

Referrals to the Edmonton Bone and Joint Centre should be regarding chronic foot and ankle problems where conservative measures have been exhausted.

Please fill out the form in its entirety. Bilateral weight-bearing standing AP and lateral X-rays of feet and ankles from within the past 3 months are required for your referral to be accepted. Fax all of this documentation to (780) 457-4393. If you have questions regarding your referral, please contact our Referral Coordinator at (780) 377-1410.
